About the Area
Although one of the lesser known of the Costa Blanca’s seaside resorts, Torre de la Horadada is also one of the prettiest of the southern resorts. It has an attractive coastline with numerous blue flag sandy beaches and lovely seafront walks along the promenade and sand dunes. At the northern end of the town there is a delightful marina, alongside the charismatic watch tower dating from the time when pirates sailed these seas. Overlooking the marina is a lovely cliff top promenade which hosts a number of restaurants with stunning views over the marina and out to sea. Just behind this promenade you will discover the charming old town square where you will find a good selection of restaurants offering tapas, Spanish food, sea food and some international cuisine. Around the square you will also find a small selection of shops, a pharmacy and the local church. A selection of larger, more modern supermarkets can be found elsewhere in the town.
Torre de la Horadada is the coastal extension/beach resort for nearby Pilar de la Horadada and has grown steadily in size in recent times as more holiday homes have been built around the old port town, but with none of the high rise buildings you see further north on the Costa Blanca. In Pilar de la Horadada you will find all the other amenities that you might need including banks, solicitors, doctors, supermarkets, schools, a sports centre, and an indoor swimming pool. A footpath and bike route connect Torre and Pilar along the route of the ramblas, meaning that you can avoid the main roads if you so wish. Pilar holds weekly markets.
The beaches of Mil Palmeras and Campoamor can be found within a short 5 minute drive north, whilst a similar distance south you can get to the mud baths and beaches of Lo Pagán on the Mar Menor. A little further south and you will arrive at the 4 kilometres long, sandy beaches of Los Narejos and Los Alcázares. At the beaches will you will also be able to partake in a wide variety of water sports and activities.
Torre de la Horadada is located only 10 minutes from both the large shopping centres at La Zenia Boulevard to the North and from Dos Mares in nearby San Javier. Both of these shopping complexes have multiscreen cinemas, 10 pin bowling alleys and many restaurants open 365 days a year. 30 minutes to the south there is also the Espacio Mediterráneo commercial centre.
Within 15 minutes of Torre de la Horadada you have access to a number of high quality golf courses including Lo Romero, Roda Golf, Las Colinas Golf and Country Club, Campoamor Club de Golf, Villamartin Club de Golf and Las Ramblas Club de Golf. A little further afield and you will find the six Nicklaus designed Polaris World resorts, the PGA course at Roda Golf & Beach Resort, Hacienda del Álamo, as well as the famous La Manga Club.
The town is well connected with the national road N-332 and the Mediterranean motorway AP-7, which give quick access north to the rest of the Costa Blanca but also south to the Mar Menor and Cartagena beyond.
Torre de la Horadada enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 18 ° C. This makes it an ideal base as either your permanent residence or a holiday home.
