San Javier is a municipality on the northern coast of the Costa Cálida in the region of Murcia. Here you will find a wide choice of amenities that you you would expect in a large town including banks, solicitors, doctors, supermarkets, and schools. Very close by is Santiago de la Ribera, located on the beaches of the Mar Menor, which started out as an old fishing village but is now a busy little resort with a lot to offer. There are 4 kilometres of golden sands and a palm-lined promenade that runs the length of the beach. In addition to the bars and restaurants located on the promenade, there is a wider choice in the town centre of “La Ribera”, as it is more often referred to by the locals. Here you can enjoy delicious seafood dishes as well as well as being plenty for the meat-lover.
In addition to the beaches in Santiago de la Ribera, 5 minutes by car and you will be on the beaches of Los Narejos and Los Alcázares. Head north and you will find the beaches of Lo Pagán and Torre de la Horadada, just over 5 and 15 minutes away respectively. At the beaches will you will also be able to partake in a wide variety of water sports and activities.
San Javier is located around 15 minutes from the large shopping centres at La Zenia Boulevard or the north or 25 minutes to the south is Espacio Mediterráneo in Cartagena. Closer to home, around 5 minutes away, is Dos Mares. These shopping complexes have multiscreen cinemas, 10 pin bowling alleys and many restaurants open all year.
